Who writes this
I’m Michael Whitman. I started learning to trade in 2017 and I’ve traded full-time since 2020.
Before that I was a marketing manager. That matters more than it sounds — my job was reading numbers and reporting honestly on what they said, including when they said something nobody wanted to hear. That habit is most of what I brought to trading, and it’s most of what this site is.
What I actually trade
Options, stock, and Bitcoin futures. I’m not a one-market specialist and I don’t pretend to be.
I’m still growing an account, not sitting on one. When I say I trade for a living, I mean it pays the bills — not that I’ve solved the market.
What I got wrong first
When I started learning I was, in my own words at the time, a complete idiot. I bought indicators because they looked impressive on a chart. I marked levels after the move had already happened and called it analysis. I learned the settings before I learned what problem the settings were solving.
Most of this site exists because of that. Nearly every page has a section on what the idea looks like when it fails, because that’s the part nobody taught me and the part that actually decides whether an idea makes or loses money.
The channel
I publish free trading education on YouTube — more than 136,000 subscribers and around 400 tutorials, covering indicators, market structure, and the platforms people actually use. Where a page on this site covers something I’ve demonstrated on video, the page links to the exact minute in the video where I do it.
That’s deliberate. You should be able to watch me do the thing rather than take my word for it.
What I am not
I’m not an investment adviser and nothing here is personal advice. I don’t know your account, your timeframe, or what you can afford to lose, so I can’t tell you what to do with any of it — and I’m not licensed to.
I don’t publish signals, I don’t offer one-to-one coaching, and I don’t run a private group. What I publish, I publish to everyone at once, on a schedule.
I never quote win rates, profit figures, or account returns — mine or anyone else’s. Not because they’d be unflattering, but because there is no honest way to present them: I can’t know what any reader would have done with the same idea, and a number without that context is a claim I can’t stand behind.
How this site is written
Every page carries at least one figure from research I’ve actually done — a study of 24,971 trading videos, my own published analytics, and forward-tested screens. Where a figure appears, the file it came from is named.
